I think of my faith journey. In the past decade, my faith has unraveled till barely a thread remains fluttering in the breeze.
Actor Kerry Washington said in an NPR interview with Terry Gross, "I practice acts of faith to engender faith." That seems to describe my present state. I don't know if God is there or if God cares but I continue to line up before the hoop to shoot. My shots (acts of faith) only make it a fraction of the distance. I don't hear from God. I don't "know" things of which I was formerly convinced. Still, I continue to line up and make my shots. I know this: that I love the story of Jesus even if in the end, it's just a story among many stories.
